Our Mission

Our mission at Hyland Family Bicycles is simple, we are here to to make you completely satisfied with your experiences in our store. Our knowledgeable staff has many years of experience in both bicycle sales and service.  We will take the time to help you find the "perfect" bike, and we offer 24-48 hour turn-around on most repairs, so you have as little down-time as possible.  Our goal of complete customer satisfaction has been a family tradition through four generations of the Hyland family.

Bill Hyland Sr. (AKA Sr.)

Bill Hyland Senior riding a bikeBill started working in the bike shop as a kid, when his mother and father ran their original shop known then as Foxworthy Bike Shop. Today, as the bike shop owner, he is an expert in sales and service for all bikes: road, mountain, tandem, unicycles and three-wheelers. Bill is always happy to take the time needed to get the perfect bike or right piece of gear for you. Bill also loves to ride! He rides road and mountain bikes as well as fixies, and if you're lucky you might see him on his custom built tall bike. Whether he's riding to work or just out on a ride with his wife, you are likely to see him on the bike somewhere in the bay area. Bill's favorite mountain bike rides are the Saratoga Gap Long Ridge Trail and Wilder Ranch.

Bill Hyland Jr. (AKA BJ, Junior)

Bill Hyland JuniorBill Jr. is a third-generation Hyland bike shop guy.  He is the co-owner of the shop, and specializes in finding the perfect products to fill the store and fit your needs.  As an avid rider, he has hands-on experience which allows him to help you make decisions in all areas of the store.  A grad from San Jose State, BJ is now running the store and always trying to take it to the next level.  He enjoys spending time with customers and loves to talk bikes.  When it comes to riding, variety is the key, but his favorite spots are UCSC, Demo, and Calabasas.

Melanie Hyland (AKA Mel)

Melanie HylandMelanie grew up working in the family bike shop and rejoined the Hyland team in 2014.  Melanie can assist you with finding the best bike to fit your needs, and takes extra care with the youngest customers.   In her "free" time, she teaches kids and adults how to ride bikes, which gives her as much satisfaction as it does them!  She volunteers alongside Turning Wheels for Kids, a local non-profit organization, to build and repair bicycles for underprivileged children.  Melanie has a son Tyler and enjoys riding with him on cruiser rides through the neighborhood, as well as longer road ride and mountain rides!

Kevin Hyland

Kevin HylandKevin rejoined the Hyland Bikes team in 2018, and has gained a passion for cycling!  He joins the Almaden Cycle Touring Club for several rides each month. Kevin loves helping you find the perfect bike or accesorry to fit your needs.

Aaron Alino

Aaron started working in the shop in 2014.  He is an avid cyclist, and commutes over 20 miles round-trip to work every day on his bike.  Aaron’s riding experience allows him to relate to customers looking for a new bike.  In his free time, Aaron races at the Hellyer Velodrome in South San Jose and is currently ranked as a Category 2 racer, just a few levels below Pro!  Long rides on his days off frequently take him over Mount Hamilton, but his favorite spot to ride is near the ocean.  The longest ride he has completed in one day is 170 miles, taking him over Mount Hamilton through Tracy over Patterson Pass through Pleasanton and back to San Jose.  Aaron has been a great addition to our team and is not only knowledgeable when it comes to bikes, but he’s a great wrench!

Tyler Hyland (AKA Ty)

Tyler HylandTyler has grown up in the store, and is the 4th generation to join the Hyland Bikes team.  Tyler is an avid road and mountain rider, and is on the varsity swim and water polo teams at his high school.  He is learning the art of wheel building from his grandpa Bill Sr.
